Michael J. Hamilton, CPA, ABV, CFF, CTP, CRRA
Mr. Hamilton has more than 40 years of public accounting experience, is a retired partner from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and current member of the Board of Directors of several companies. Mr. Hamilton is currently the Senior Vice President of Powerlink Transmission Company. The company’s mission is to identify and close transactions related to electric distribution and transmission assets and gas transmission assets. He is responsible for target identification, financial modeling and transaction support. Mr. Hamilton is an expert in the utility and energy industries. He has been involved in virtually all of the utility and energy industry restructuring and bankruptcy situations since 1989.
Mr. Hamilton has significant experience testifying before regulatory bodies in Alaska, Arkansas, California, Canada, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, and Texas. His testimony has dealt with accounting, ratemaking and management issues, including issues related to post merger operations of merged utility entities. He has also testified in Bankruptcy Court and before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the Railroad Accounting Principles Board (chaired by the Comptroller General of the United States).
Mr. Hamilton is a Certified Public Accountant who is licensed to practice in California, the District of Columbia, New Jersey and New York. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants from which organization he holds the designations Accredited in Business Valuation and Certified in Financial Forensics.
Mr. Hamilton is a Certified Turnaround Professional, a designation granted by The Turnaround Management Association as the result of completing a series of required courses, passing a comprehensive three part examination, obtaining five references from clients that he assisted in bankruptcy and turnaround situations and having significant relevant engagement experience.
Mr. Hamilton is also a Certified Rate of Return Analyst, a designation earned as a result of experience in the corporate finance field and passing a comprehensive written examination. This designation is granted by the Society for Utility and Regulatory Financial Analysts.
